Better late than never hey? I never really know when to publish blog posts on my favourites, at the end of the month or as you start the next one?? Anywaaay let’s get stuck into the juicy details because you’re all dying to find out what I’ve been loving over this past month of overindulgence.
I admit the majority of my favourite things have been food items, come on it was Christmas! Stay tuned for some goodies you may also be interested in…
Creamy Vanilla Coconut Yankee Candle
Let’s start with something that isn’t food related, shall we? I’m a bit of a candle hoarder, to say the least, and often people will buy candles for my birthday and Christmas because it is a fairly easy gift to buy. I do try and buy presents for people throughout the year to save the mad rush to the shops in December because I’ve run out of Christmas gift ideas. Tiny confession to make here, this candle might have supposed to be a present for someone… I liked it too much to give it away, it just smells too damn good! It’s an unusual choice for me because I don’t tend to like coconut scents or flavours in general but the mixture of this with vanilla makes it smell like an OTT sweet pudding. It’s definitely not a scent for people who can’t deal with overpowering sickly sweet scents but sweet candles are some of my favourites, in small doses though I wouldn’t leave it burning for hours on end!
We Love Cake Gluten Free Mince Pies

There is a common misconception that gluten-free food is bland and lacking in flavour which unfortunately I have found in some products, these mince pies however, absolutely trump this statement and are packed full of flavour. I think we bought these because there are also suitable for vegans/veggies alike and it can be hard to find mince pies that aren’t the usual all-butter culprits. If you don’t like mince pies then no problem, but I eat so many over the Christmas period it is vital to have a vegan alternative! Since finding these I have discovered a few places that stock ‘accidentally’ vegan mince pies and these shops are where you’d least expect them; Aldi are really leading the pack with their vegan-friendly game and their pies are vegan, if you can find them. ASDA was not far behind as they released mince pies that were officially labelled vegan, they know what we want!! I believe Iceland’s own brand 12-pack mince pies were also vegan, but don’t quote me on that.

Whitakers Mint Cremes
After Eights are another one of the food goodies I associate with Christmas, but these little bite sized chocolates contain milk, stay clear! I would happily sit and eat my way through half a box (I know it’s terrible) but I found with the Whitakers chocolates you could only eat so many before you felt enough was enough. This is probably because it’s more towards the richer dark chocolate spectrum but also because there is higher proportion of mint creme filling, so a little goes a long way with these choccies. These chocolates are made in a round shape rather than the usual thin slab style pieces of After Eights, so surely there’s more for your money with these? The packaging is fancy af too so definitely on par with the market that the After Eights belong to.
Where to buy: Iceland, ASDA, Amazon, Lakeland, B&M stores
Dark, a Netflix Original
Ah, Netflix the land of the binge watching of documentaries and TV series. You could literally spend months on end watching a whole host of shows on pretty much any topic and still have hundreds more to view at your leisure. I have watched the usual shows people bang on about on social media but I hadn’t seen anything said about Dark. If you love murder mysteries/thrillers then this the one for you. The show is based in Germany in 2019 where young children go missing, with broken relationships, dark pasts and twists along the way, you will definitely want to binge watch the series in one go. The story soon spreads to include events in 1986 and 1953 as a gateway through time is discovered. I won’t tell you much more because I will spoil it but heads up, the actors are all German so the speech is dubbed over with English throughout but you don’t really notice it after a while.
The Righteous Butter, Soap & Glory
You know when you neglect a product for ages and realise you have it in a drawer lying around somewhere, then decide to try it out again? This is exactly what happened with this body butter. I love Soap & Glory products particularly the body range, I’ve tried their shower gels, hand lotions, foot scrub and this body butter. It seems to be a popular present I receive at birthdays and Christmases, but hey that’s fine by me! I started to use the Righteous Butter during December because I felt my skin needed that extra bit of moisturising and this does the trick. It’s much thicker and feels so luxurious on the skin which makes applying moisturiser an easier task. I don’t know anyone else but I hate having to moisturise after I get out the shower or bath and it’s freezing cold and just effort. Not only does it actually work, it smells amazing too so you can be moisturised and smell like a walking spa, what a bonus!
